A total of 925 volunteers, between 10 pm and 2 am of 17th May, have participated in the Counting of homeless people 2018 at the city of Barcelona. The volunteers have been divided in 287 groups to sightsee the city through the 13 meeting points previously designed. Some people who have lived in the street have also participated as volunteers of this edition, and almost half of the volunteers have been involved for the first time. Suara Cooperativa has been headquarter of the Counting 2018.

Organized by the 34 organizations which integrate the Support System for Homeless People (XAPSLL), including Barcelona City Council, this is the sixth counting and the third consecutive that has the support of the consistory. As each year, the purpose of this activity is to awareness people about the homelessness issue, to make known the work of the organizations of the XAPSLL, to count the scope of the phenomenon in a concrete night and to detect new spaces for overnight stay in the city. A total of 956 people have been counted sleeping in street, and 2.099 people in municipal or social organizations equipment. Last year, 1.026 people had been counted sleeping in street, and 2.006 in residential resources of the XAPSLL or municipal equipment. With regard to settlements, the 2017 ended with an average of 444 people living there, while in the first trimester of 2018 that number has increased to 536.
