27 February, 2014
The Andalusian Entities Federation of Hospitalet de Llobregat (FECEAL'H, for its Spanish acronym) has granted its Social Work Prize to the Residential Centre for Homeless People Els Alps, a residential facility for homeless people in Hospitalet de Llobregat –a city near Barcelona- run by Suara Cooperative.
The award recognizes the work done by center professionals in their day to day as well as the long history of attention to the people of this equipment.
The award ceremony took place on Friday 21 February as part of the Commemorative Andalusia Day of Hospitalet de Llobregat. The mayor of Hospitalet, Núria Marín, presented the award to professionals of Els Alps in an institutional ceremony at the Mansion Can Buxeres.
"It’s an award we received with a lot of enthusiasm because it has been a citizen’s proposal, which means that people perceive the social utility of the equipment in the neighborhood and in the city in terms of care provided in the center. It is a great recognition of our daily work," says Samanta Dámaso, director of the center.
