Suara Cooperativa launches the Psicointegra program, an innovative space born with the function of offering psychological and pedagogical support to children, adolescents, young people and their families, as well as training and advice to professionals in the field of care to people

Psicointegra has a trauma therapy service for specific and specialized therapeutic support for children and adolescents who have been victims of abuse, from which their team of professionals have already treated more than fifty people, including young people and boys and girls, in the first experiments carried out.

A number that Suara points out in the framework of World Children's Day, which is celebrated this Sunday, November 20, and in its commitment to the protection and well-being of the smallest and young. The organization highlights the key role played by trauma-therapeutic support for the development of children and adolescents and their integration into society.

And there are many studies that link abuse suffered during childhood with low self-esteem or mental problems in adulthood. Most of them point to the fact that around 35% of mental disorders in adults have to do with childhood abuse.

In the words of Natàlia Prades, director of Suara's Psicointegra program: "Infant trauma and the consequent bond disorders involve an alteration in normative neurobiological development. This fact hinders the harmonious development of children and adolescents, leading to many difficulties that until now are not considered a mental disorder". And she adds: "Currently we have the right knowledge and tools to work towards their resilient reintegration and one of these tools is the figure of the trauma therapist".

In this sense, Psicointegra is a space where the person being treated feels in a context of safety and trust, with listening support where they can allow themselves to share emotions, experiences, thoughts, concerns, with the support of specialized professionals who allow them give meaning and coherence to their internal world again. "We work individually, both with children and with teenagers and adults, as well as we also create groups to be able to work on problems, difficulties or grief in common", notes Natàlia Prades.

Psicointegra also contemplates workshops for parents, adoptive and foster families to deal with limits, conflicts, emotions, sexuality, addictions, among others, as well as seeks to respond to the needs of the different professionals and teams in counseling and supervision, with the objective of providing them with training to improve their attention.
